What is ARISTA & ARCHON, and why should I join?
Arista and Archon are nationally recognized societies that honor academic achievement and service to the school. Colleges and potential employers greatly value membership in these prestigious organizations. Those who get accepted can feel a sense of pride in their accomplishments. You can, too!
ARISTA rewards juniors and seniors for academic achievement and some service at Midwood High School. Junior applicants must have achieved an overall average of 93% over five semesters and shown a record of service to the school. Senior applicants must have an average of 90% over seven semesters, with similar service requirements. All applicants for ARISTA undergo a character check in which administrators and faculty familiar with students’ academic and service records evaluate their suitability. Upon successful completion of these requirements, prospective members are inducted into ARISTA.
ARCHON honors students committed to serving the Midwood High School community. Any sophomore, junior, or senior earning at least 105 service credits can apply for ARCHON. Many methods of accumulating service credit exist. They include involvement in sports teams, clubs, performing arts, student government, and working as monitors for teachers and administrative staff. Contributing to school in this way offers multiple benefits, such as self-satisfaction, helping others, and getting familiar with the faculty and the inner workings of the school. You must purchase a G.O. card for EVERY term of service. Service credits must be recorded on your G.O. card with the proper signature of the faculty or administrator advisor. Return your completed G.O. card to the Records Office, room 131. It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of how many service credits accumulated each term. Prospective members also undergo a character investigation in which administrators and faculty familiar with the applicants evaluate their suitability. Upon successful completion of these requirements, the applicants are inducted into ARCHON.
When are applications for Arista & Archon posted & due ?
Applications for Arista & Archon are posted by the Guidance counselor to their Official Class Google Classroom in the Fall Semester. The applications are usually due by January 31st of that school year.
